Mumbai, October 9, 2025 – In a significant move toward realizing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020's vision of holistic education, a unique partnership has been forged between SCERT Maharashtra and the Salaam Bombay Foundation. The collaboration aims to train teachers to integrate sports and fitness into the everyday learning process, focusing on nurturing the "mind, body, and spirit" of every student.
The initiative is founded on the philosophy that "Sports build more than muscles... it builds minds and hearts," fostering crucial traits like confidence, compassion, and teamwork among students when teachers champion the cause.
Phased Rollout to Create 'Future-Ready Schools'
The joint programme is set to launch in the upcoming 2025–26 academic year, initially targeting 80 schools across the Pune and Thane districts. Following this pilot phase, the organizations have a broader vision to expand the initiative across all districts of Maharashtra in the coming years, transforming NEP 2020’s ideals into a powerful, on-the-ground reality.
Salaam Bombay's National Footprint
This partnership marks another milestone for the Salaam Bombay Foundation. The organization is already engaged with thousands of young minds across five states in India through NEP-aligned programmes. These initiatives are designed to make learning truly go beyond the classroom, covering key areas such as:
- Health & Fitness
- Skills & Entrepreneurship
- Arts & Media
The new SCERT Maharashtra partnership is an affirmation of a shared commitment to creating future-ready schools where the focus is on the complete development of the learner.
