The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (Maharail) have fast-tracked the construction of a cable-stayed flyover on the Andheri–Ghatkopar link road, a crucial project aimed at easing Mumbai’s chronic traffic congestion.
The bridge, which crosses the railway line, is being executed by Maharail with financial support from BMC and will be completed in two phases. Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shri Bhushan Gagrani recently inspected the ongoing work in the first phase, accompanied by local MLAs Ram Kadam and Parag Shah, and key engineering officials.
During the site visit, Shri Gagrani emphasised the rehabilitation of Project Affected Persons (PAPs) and directed that construction progress be accelerated. He also instructed officials to conduct a structural audit of the existing bridge and coordinate with the traffic police to manage diversions and restrict heavy vehicle movement temporarily.
Following the inspection, the Commissioner visited the N Ward office in Ghatkopar East, where he made a surprise check of the Citizen Facilitation Centre (CFC). He interacted with residents, reviewed service delivery, and urged improvements in accessibility, seating, and system efficiency to ensure faster, citizen-friendly services.
The Andheri–Ghatkopar flyover, once completed, is expected to significantly improve east–west connectivity and reduce vehicular load on the existing routes—marking another milestone in Mumbai’s expanding urban infrastructure.
